From April 2017, guests at five-star health and beach retreat Healthouse Las Dunas will be able to experience a new two-night Digital Detox programme at the luxury spa on the Andalucian coast. After being named the ‘Best Health Hotel in Spain’ at the 2016 ROCA Hotel awards, Healthouse Las Dunas is launching the new Digital Detox programme to provide its guests with an escape from the stress and unhealthy habits developed as a result of our growing digital addiction.
In today’s digital age, the line between the physical world and the online world is becoming increasingly blurred and it’s easy to become consumed in the virtual universe. As we become used to logging in and communicating with others via a screen, we forget to set aside time to spend with loved ones in person and exploring our natural world. The new programme at Healthouse Las Dunas will teach guests to start appreciating our physical world and establish healthy habits with regards to life and technology, through relaxing exercises, spa treatments, educational content, mindfulness and health consultations.
Guests will hand their phone to reception on arrival, where it will be kept safe throughout their stay. Alongside luxury accommodation in a deluxe sea-view room with no TV or mobile devices, the programme will include learning sessions in making the most of living in the real world, as well as making plans and setting goals, exploring new hobbies and healthier habits. The programme will also include a consultation with a nutritionist, a spa treatment in the world-class Naturhouse spa, relaxing exercise classes, and a health plan to help maintain their lifestyle after they leave.
The expansive Naturhouse Spa at Healthouse boasts outstanding facilities guaranteed to relax and rejuvenate, which guests are invited to make the most of during their stay. Facilities include a relaxing circuit pool with powerful jets, a Turkish bath, Finnish sauna, ice cave, tepidarium and a unique ‘halotherapy’ room made entirely of pink Himalayan sea salt, which supports lung and sinus function.
When not indulging in the Naturhouse Spa, guests will have an itinerary of gentle exercises designed for relaxation. Yoga will be taught in the gardens overlooking the ocean, while the on-site Personal Trainer will teach guests the specialist techniques of Nordic walking, and guide them on a scenic trail through the surroundings and coastline for a gentle yet full-body work out.
Throughout the programme, guests will enjoy full board dining at the restaurant which serves detoxifying menus crafted by Michelin-starred consultant chef Andoni Luis Aduriz, using ingredients with specific healing qualities. Menus are supported by herbal teas and natural supplement drinks to benefit the body and flush out unwanted toxins; don’t expect any alcohol to be served here. Guests are catered for with three exquisite meals a day as well as 2 snacks, combining to provide a daily calorie intake of around 1,300 (or as recommended by the nutritionist following their initial consultation). Lunch and dinner consist of 4 courses with dishes such as scallops with cauliflower puree, daikon cress and bisque sauce, or red scarlet king prawns with sea water foam.
Healthouse Las Dunas offers the ‘Digital Detox’ programme from €725pp (approx. £620pp) based on 2 nights’ full board accommodation in a deluxe room with sea view including an itinerary of medical consultations, educational material, exercises and spa treatments.
